Our Story
Who We are
Green Earth Trust (GET), a grassroots entity, is a membership organization and a caring community of farmers, importers, formulators and manufacturers of pesticides, who share a firm commitment to environmental conservation and the inculcation of green best practices in the application of pesticides and food safety.
We have more than 12,300 members, nationally, and this number continues to grow as more farmers, farmers associations and key actors in the agricultural supply/value chain get on board.
Our national programs are geared towards capacity deployment to enhance food safety and farm-level responses to climate change through mitigation and adaptation, while our international representative offices in London (UK) and Minnesota (USA), provide market-based grower support, facilitate independent testing in instances of suspected Minimum Residue Level (MRL) violations and provide inter-agency liaison, facilitation and advocacy.
We are a strong and united voice for our members on issues that affect their businesses, farms and families and are committed to growing the sustainable production of safe food.
Our History
The precursor to Green Earth Trust was Mama Watiri Trust Fund (MWTF) – a Not-For-Profit Trust registered under Cap 164 of the Laws of Kenya. It was set up in honour of Mama Watiri Wa Njuguna who was a veteran of the struggle for independence in the then colonial Kenya. She played key logistical roles in supplying medicine and food to freedom fighters in her quest to help in the emancipation of Kenya from colonial rule.
Upon her demise in 2008, MWTF was mooted and established in her honour to espouse and propagate her values through various programs and activities for national development. Key among these programs were environmental conservation, food security and affordable credit to farmers.
In this respect, the trustees to MWTF conceptualized Green Earth and Kilimo Faida (then a micro-finance programs but is now an independent entity extending lines of credit to farmers) for the afore mentioned purposes, which marked the beginning of a long journey of sacrifice and dedication in efforts to provide members and recipients of our programs with the support required in terms of access to credit and technical assistance for the production of safe food.
As such, Green Earth had since 2008 functioned as a program under MWTF, which has been its benefactor – receiving resources, periodically, from member contributions. This was made possible through the resource mobilization criteria outlined in the below membership classes.
Today, Green Earth Trust is an independent entity implementing various programs.
Membership Classes

Class II

Class III
